Connecting you to new opportunities
through Enterprise Europe Network in London
Welcome to the London Innovation Network e-newsletter which we hope will tell you more about the services available to you, helping your business to grow, innovate and succeed!
For the past six months we have been working with Biotronics 3D, a London-based SME involved in medical image processing, to develop a funding proposal, form a consortium (known as iScalpel) with new business partners, and submit a proposal for £4.2m of funding for research and development (known as FP7 funding).
Formed of eight partners from the UK, the Netherlands, Norway, Germany and Austria, iScalpel aims to develop and implement novel techniques in cancer diagnosis through image processing of MRI images to identify tumours in human tissue.
Biotronics 3D is now in a very good position to attract further business interest from large hospitals and National Health Organisations from across Europe as well as licensing its technology to third countries, notably the USA and Canada. www.biotronics3d.com
The London Innovation Network is committed to provide access to funding support and business growth services. For more information or to hold an informal discussion on supporting your new technology proposition contact fp7@gle.co.uk or visit www.london-innovation.org

Do business in Europe: spotlight on Bulgaria
Bulgaria is one of the fastest developing economies in Europe and is fuelling opportunities for business and foreign investors.
Their accession to the European Union (EU) in 2007 improved the country’s economic outlook with GDP growth rising to 6% last year, unemployment falling and foreign investment increasing. The country is also benefiting from £12bn in EU funding beween 2007-13 which is being invested in infrastructure, urban regeneration, renewable energy, training and education.
Economic relations between the UK and Bulgaria are strong: in 2008 UK exports reached £200m and UK investment represented 51% of all foreign direct investment. Given its location, Bulgaria can also be considered a strategic gateway to trade with the Balkans, Russia, Turkey and the Middle East. Find out more about Bulgaria by attending our event on 3rd June.
