Research and Innovation

The FP7 programme supports collaborative projects doing research and development.

Food, Agriculture and Fisheries and Biotechnology related proposals are due by 14 January 2010.

FP7 Health single stage proposals are due by 19 November 2009.
FP7 Health stage two proposals are due by 29 October 2009.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) related proposals are due by 26 October 2009.

The ICT FET Open Scheme is a continually open to proposals from small and medium-scale projects looking into long-term research in ICT. Proposals are due by 24 May 2011.

Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production Technologies related proposals are due by 8 December 2009.

Energy related proposals are due by 4 March 2010.

Environment related proposals are due by 5 January 2010.

Transport related proposals are due by 14 January 2010.

Socio-Economic Sciences and the Humanities related proposals are due by 2 February 2010.

Space related proposals are due by 8 December 2009.

Security related proposals are due by 26 November 2009.

More Reasearch & Development

The ARTEMIS programme focuses on downstream research and technology development with a strong market drive. Proposals are due by 3 September 2009.

The ENIAC Joint Undertaking Initiative for research and development of nanoelectronics is due by 3 September 2009.

Environment

The LIFE+ programme funds up to €20 million for co-financing of projects in the UK on nature and biodiversity; environment policy and governance; and information and communication. Proposals are due by 15 September 2009

Energy

Eco-Innovation supports the first application and further market uptake of eco-innovative products and services in Europe. Proposals are due by 10 September 2009.

Antitrust:

Review of competition rules on vertical agreements, EC consultation This consultation seeks to obtain views from businesses with direct experience in the current regime for assessment of vertical restraints. The Block Exemption Regulation governing these issues will expire in May 2010 and the Commission is therefore seeking to learn about the experiences that businesses have with the overall functioning of the rules and proposals for changes.

Antitrust:

Review of competition rules in motor vehicle sector, EC consultation This consultation seeks to obtain views from individuals, businesses and public authorities on the future competition law regime applicable to the motor vehicle sector.

Eco-design:

Implementation of EU’s Eco-Design of Energy Using Products and Energy Labelling Framework Directives, UK consultation This is a UK consultation designed to gather together ideas for enforcement options of the new EU Eco-Design of Energy Using Products and Energy Labelling Framework Directives. The UK government’s aim is to learn about stakeholders’ views and suggestions for appropriate market surveillance authority, its powers and resources.

Energy:

European Energy Programme for Recovery, EC legislation This Regulation establishes the European Energy Programme for Recovery. It is a financial instrument to assist projects in the fields of gas and electricity infrastructure, offshore wind energy and carbon capture and storage. Its budget for 2009-2010 is EUR 3.98 billion. The Regulation also contains information about main priorities, eligibility and selection criteria.

Environment:

Adaptation of the Directive on Restrictions of Hazardous Substances, EC consultation This consultation aims to evaluate the existing exemptions and new exemption requests under the Directive on Restrictions of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) to take into account new scientific and technical progress in this area.

Finance:

Possible changes to the Capital Requirements Directive, EC consultation The aim of this consultation is to gather comments on further possible changes to the Capital Requirements Directive especially in the areas of through-the-cycle expected loss provisioning, specific incremental capital requirements for residential mortgages denominated in a foreign currency and the removal of national options and discretions.

Information society:

Priorities for new European information society strategy (2010-2015), EC consultation The aim of this consultation is for the Commission to gather together views on a wide variety of issues related to the new digital agenda of EU, creating new ICT infrastructure and development of internet as a driver for innovation.

Medicinal products:

Evaluation and certification requirements for SMEs, EC legislation This Commission Regulation sets out requirements for evaluation and certification of quality and non-clinical data related to advanced therapy medicinal products, which were developed by micro enterprises or SMEs. It provides details of required content of applications for certification and other guidelines.

Research:

Simplification of the implementation of EU Framework Programmes, EC consultation This is a first informal consultation, which aims to gather ideas about how to improve the processes and systems for delivery of the 7th Framework Programme and to suggest changes that should be made to EU research budget. The consultation is aimed at experts involved in FP7 advisory services, national contact points and evaluators. Replies will be used for formulating the new Commission Communication for simplifying the implementation of the EU Research Framework Programmes.
